Job summary

Howmet Aerospace Inc. is seeking Materials Engineer Interns for the Whitehall, MI Research and Development Center.

The program runs 10-14 weeks, with hands-on work supporting production facilities globally and opportunities to present findings to plant managers. Candidates must be pursuing an engineering degree with sophomore coursework completed by May 2027, and should possess strong communication and analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• Minimum completion of Sophomore level coursework by May 2027.
• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical, or Ceramic.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Ability to work in a self-directed or team environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct, document and present evaluations in areas of material and anomaly characterization, failure analysis and data analytics.
• Support material characterization laboratories with testing anomalies and new equipment qualification.
• Collaborate with technical teams at Howmet Aerospace sites to identify and solve material problems.
