Job summary

Apex Systems is seeking an onsite Material Planner for our client in Kings Mountain, NC. This 12-month contract role requires monitoring SAP alerts, coordinating with suppliers, and maintaining SAP parameters to ensure timely deliveries and minimize production disruptions.

The ideal candidate has an associate degree or equivalent, strong analytical and communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and MRP systems (SAP preferred). First shift, Monday–Friday, onsite environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent experience; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and MRP systems (SAP preferred).
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Customer-focused mindset with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and act on SAP alerts to ensure timely delivery of parts to the plant.
• Investigate spare part availability and coordinate substitutions with engineering and other plants to prevent production line disruptions.
• Support other plants during shortage situations when requested.
• Notify scheduling of potential material shortages impacting production.
• Escalate supplier risks and crises according to established protocols.
• Communicate with suppliers regarding inventory discrepancies, quality issues, and replenishment needs.
• Coordinate with transport operations to confirm ETAs and resolve carrier issues.
• Conduct daily supplier calls to review delivery performance and request corrective actions when targets are not met.
• Perform root cause analysis for production disturbances and document findings.
• Maintain accurate SAP parameters and request updates when necessary.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and provide emergency response information when required.
