Job summary

Shepherd Safety Consulting LLC seeks a full-time Safety Specialist for manufacturing and general-industry clients, embedded at a Novi, MI facility. Onsite 2–3 days per week with remote support on other days, focusing on hazard identification, OSHA compliance, training, and practical corrective measures.

The role covers LOTO, machine guarding, electrical safety and material handling, with collaboration across client teams.

Qualifications

• Three or more years in a dedicated occupational safety role.
• OSHA 30-Hour General Industry training completed.
• Strong ability to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Ability to communicate findings clearly in reports and training.
• Willingness to travel within southeast Michigan and occasional out-of-state.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary onsite safety resource at the Novi manufacturing facility.
• Identify and assess general-industry hazards with focus on LOTO, machine guarding, electrical safety.
• Develop, implement, review, and maintain written safety programs and procedures.
• Deliver or coordinate employee safety training and maintain training records.
• Support incident follow-up, root-cause analysis, and corrective-action tracking.
• Conduct workplace safety assessments and inspections at client facilities.
• Prepare clear reports and communicate findings to client management.
• Collaborate with employees, supervisors, and management to address safety concerns.
• Travel within southeast Michigan and occasional out-of-state assignments as needed.
