Job summary

Kelly Services is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join the Manufacturing Engineering Team in Hayward, CA. This on-site, contract position supports the first shift and focuses on equipment maintenance for vehicle assembly lines.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, root-cause analysis, vendor collaboration, inventory management, and training of staff to ensure safe, efficient operations. Candidates should have 2+ years in industrial automation or related fields.

Qualifications

• Experience with industrial automation or automotive shop/assembly equipment.
• Strong electrical and mechanical background (ranging from 12VDC to 480VAC).
• Basic understanding of robotics, PLCs, pneumatics, hydraulics, vehicle lifts, and DC tooling.
• Willingness to learn 3D modeling software.
• Ability to interpret 2D and 3D prints/schematics.
• Self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist in establishing preventative maintenance procedures and standards, reporting to Equipment and Maintenance Manager.
• Collaborate with equipment vendors on major maintenance projects.
• Perform and/or oversee maintenance on all vehicle assembly equipment.
• Respond promptly to downtime events, equipment alarms, and urgent production support requests.
• Conduct root cause analysis on equipment and quality issues.
• Develop solutions for recurring or anticipated maintenance challenges.
• Manage inventory: order tools, spare parts, and supplies for production equipment.
• Train production staff in equipment best practices for safe and efficient operations.
• Document and communicate equipment changes and modifications.
