Job summary

SPL in Artesia, NM seeks a Laboratory Supervisor to lead daily workflow, oversee testing operations, and guide laboratory personnel in a fast-paced accredited environment. You will manage staffing, calibrations, QA, and compliance with SOPs while driving continuous improvement and safe, efficient operation.

A bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline and 3+ years of hands-on experience in regulated labs are required, along with strong leadership and proficiency with LIMS and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or related scientific discipline.
• 3+ years of progressively responsible, hands-on experience within regulated analytical laboratory environments.
• Demonstrated experience leading laboratory personnel, managing workloads, and supporting employee development.
• Working knowledge of analytical instrumentation, test methods, sample workflows, data review, quality systems and practices, regulatory requirements, SOPs, and laboratory safety protocols.
• Ability to identify workflow or quality issues, support corrective actions, and promote continuous improvement.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and LIMS.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership, supervision, and operational support to laboratory personnel.
• Assign, prioritize, and monitor laboratory workflows to ensure accurate and timely completion of testing activities.
• Support staffing coordination, scheduling, training, coaching, and employee performance management.
• Oversee laboratory operations, instrumentation, calibrations, preventative maintenance, and resource allocation.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory quality systems, SOPs, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Review analytical data, laboratory records, and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
• Support troubleshooting activities involving instrumentation, analytical methods, and operational processes.
• Monitor laboratory capacity, inventory levels, turnaround times, and operational efficiency metrics.
• Participate in audits, investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Promote and enforce laboratory safety policies, PPE requirements, and environmental health and safety procedures.
• Collaborate with laboratory leadership and cross-functional teams to support operational priorities and objectives.
• Perform additional duties as assigned
