Job summary

Shimadzu Scientific Instruments in Princeton, NJ seeks an Onsite Service Specialist to maintain and repair LC, UHPLC, GC, SFC, and LCMS instruments at designated customer sites. You will be the primary contact for troubleshooting and ensuring maximum uptime while delivering exceptional customer service.

The role requires 3+ years’ experience servicing HPLC/UPLC/GC, a technical electronics background, and an associate degree (Bachelor’s preferred).

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience servicing HPLC, UPLC, or GC instrumentation.
• Strong background in electronics, lab instrumentation, and software troubleshooting.
• Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or Technology required; Bachelor's preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the first line of support for LC, UHPLC, GC, SFC and LCMS issues.
• Identify and resolve hardware and software failures including Shimadzu software.
• Troubleshoot issues related to column failure, solvent contamination, and sample solubility.
• Direct users to appropriate departments for non-Shimadzu hardware problems.
• Provide hands-on training and mentorship to junior service personnel.
• Maintain records of repairs and maintenance; submit improvement recommendations.
• Develop and implement maintenance schedules to ensure instrument performance.
• Travel to additional customer sites as required.
