Job summary

Avantor’s Advanced Laboratory Services team delivers customized, mission-based lab work for biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech customers. In Ipswich, MA you will report to the Territory Area Manager and collaborate with lab professionals to perform research protocols that accelerate science.

This role emphasizes detail, teamwork, and problem solving, with opportunities to manage inventory, coordinate shipments, and ensure compliance with quality standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience working with IATA/ADR/IMDG preferable.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Able to partner with other teams and suppliers in a matrix environment.
  • Proficient in data capture, analysis and reporting using IT systems.
  • Knowledge of Good Laboratory Standards.
  • Project management skills and multitasking abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring compliance of activities with defined schedules and quality within a specified area.
  • Act and report on deviations.
  • Act as a key contact for research staff to address issues with stock inventory and dispatching samples.
  • Create, maintain and update documentation supporting service delivery, compliance and training.
  • Report on KPIs, metrics, SLAs and weekly tasks.
  • Analyze reports, measurements and external benchmarks to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Sample dispatch: receive, pack, prepare and ship R&D samples globally with regulatory compliance.
  • Dispatch goods with correct documentation meeting GxP and Health & Safety standards.
  • Resolve complex queries from customers and manage internal/external delivery.
  • Ensure proper handling of hazardous shipments and temperature-sensitive materials.
  • Archive documentation and ensure availability of COAs, import licenses as needed.
  • Inventory management: stock stores, receive, replenish and distribute inventory.
  • Maintain inventory data accuracy and run regular stock checks.
  • Troubleshoot inventory system problems and coordinate with suppliers.

The Opportunity: In this role, you will report to the Territory Area Manager and will work closely with the Avantor’s Advanced Laboratory Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science. Location: Ipswich, MA Shift: Monday - Friday 7:30 AM-4 PM Hourly pay range: $23.00 - $26.00

Avantor’s Advanced Laboratory Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support. In this role you will:

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring compliance of activities performed in adherence with defined schedules and quality within a specified area.
  • Act and report on deviations
  • Act as a key point of contact for all research staff to deal with problems within the laboratories pertaining to stock inventory and dispatching samples
  • Creation, maintenance and updating relevant documentation in support of service delivery, compliance and training.
  • Report on KPIs, metrics, SLAs and weekly tasks
  • Analyses reports, measurements and external benchmarks to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Sample Dispatch Receive, pack, prepare and ship R&D samples (biological, chemical, radioactive etc) globally ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and transport regulations (air/road/sea)
  • Dispatch goods ensuring all relevant documentation is correct and meets GxP and Health and Safety standards.
  • Resolve or escalation of complex queries from the customer in particular relating to internal and external delivery.
  • Ensure that materials with special handling, storage or distribution requirements (such as hazardous shipments and temperature sensitive material) are properly monitored.
  • Archiving of documentation Ensure that all necessary documents and authorizations are available in time for every shipment e.g. COAs, TASCA import license.
  • Ensure that incoming materials are of suitable quality and quantity, received to inventory correctly and available for use on the date required.
  • Inventory Mgt. Services Support the day to day running of onsite stocking locations and goods inwards services inclusive of solvents, chemicals, consumables and specialist scientific products Receipt, replenishment and distribution of inventory to meet end user demands, utilizing industry-leading inventory management technology to track usage and continually optimize stocking levels
  • Ensuring that stores requisitions are issued from the inventory management system.
  • Carrying out regular Stock checks on stores inventory.
  • Ensure accuracy of data in the inventory system including location, quantity on hand, value etc Create procedures and reporting for the effective management of inventory, demonstrating cost savings.
  • Trouble-shooting inventory management system problems.
  • Ensuring Non stores goods are received and recorded into relevant Goods In and End Users are notified that goods have arrived Regular reviews with customers to ensure right products are stocked.
  • Logistics Procedures Ensured timely daily transport and delivery of packages from multiple couriers across laboratory areas. Cross reference parcels using in house software functionality to align deliveries.
  • Change Gas Cylinders on site in line with demand from user group.
  • Maintain access routes for deliveries of goods and equipment on site at all times.
  • Track orders via courier groups to ensure delivery of supply chain.
  • Work collaboratively with suppliers and vendors to problem solve order progression.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Pay Transparency

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is $45,000.00 - $72,450.00. Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
