Job description

FALL 2026 & SPRING 2027 – $16.00 PER HOUR PAID INTERNSHIP

Are you currently enrolled (or planning to enroll) in a facilities management, grounds management, industrial maintenance, or maintenance technician program? Come to the Foundation to get hands‑on learning experiences while you complete your coursework, in an environment that will be flexible around your class schedule!

Brief Overview

Our Facilities and Office Services Internship (Fall 2026 – Spring 2026) is a hands‑on learning role that will play an important service and support role in the safe, timely and efficient maintenance of our entire campus – both inside and out. In this internship the tasks fall into three categories: Office Services (OS), Facilities Maintenance (FM), and Grounds Maintenance (GM).

Office Services (OS)
  • Assist with office moves, furniture rearrangements, and furniture assembly.
  • Assist with setting up meeting rooms, conference rooms, and event spaces.
  • Help maintain and replenish an adequate inventory of cleaning supplies, paper goods, and kitchen/bathroom supplies for the business. Restock items as needed.
  • Collaborate with, and supplement the work of, the third‑party housekeeping team to ensure a clean and organized working environment. Conduct spot‑cleaning of common areas: kitchens, restrooms, conference rooms and lobby.
Facilities Maintenance (FM)
  • Assist in performing routine preventive maintenance (PM) tasks on our mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, water, and electrical systems. In position, the intern will be trained to conduct basic troubleshooting of the same systems.
  • At the outset, all hands‑on troubleshooting and repairs will be directly supervised until the intern is trained proficiently. Once fully trained, the intern will independently:
  • Complete basic repairs such as changing out lightbulbs, swapping door handles, and addressing plumbing clogs.
  • Complete basic cosmetic maintenance tasks such as applying touch‑up paint, replacing carpet squares, and replacing caulk.
  • Assist in maintaining the exterior of the building, including periodic inspections of roof, windows, tuckpointing, concrete, etc. When issues are identified, assist in coordinating appropriate contractors/vendors for repairs.
  • Participate in the inspection and maintenance of fire safety and security systems.
Grounds Maintenance (GM)
  • Assist in maintaining the grounds of our 15‑acre campus, including landscaping/lawn care, tree management, mulched trail maintenance, and regular weed management and treatments.
  • Assist in maintaining safe access to our building, including parking lots, sidewalks and patios. This includes primarily leaf blowing (year‑round), and snow removal and salt application (in winter).

The above Position Description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice.
