TENEX.AI Inc. in Overland Park, KS is seeking a hands-on HR Generalist to own payroll, benefits, and employer tax administration in a fast‑moving startup environment.

You’ll handle US payroll end‑to‑end, benefits management, and related compliance with an emphasis on accuracy and confidentiality. You will collaborate with a growing People Operations team, scale processes, and support globally via EOR arrangements, with room for growth as the company expands its AI‑driven cybersecurity

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of hands-on US payroll and benefits administration, multi-state highly preferred.
• Experience setting up state payroll tax registrations and handling agency notices.
• Experience owning benefits administration and monthly invoice reconciliation.
• A high bar for accuracy and confidentiality.
• Comfort working in a fast-moving startup where some processes don’t exist yet.
• Rippling payroll and benefits experience (strongly preferred).
• You’ve helped a company move off a PEO
• EOR or global payroll exposure
• Broader generalist experience across employee relations, leave administration and HR compliance
• You’ve worked in a high-growth tech company

Responsibilities

• US benefits administration: enrollments, life events, open enrollment, carrier and broker coordination, COBRA, and benefits compliance.
• Monthly benefits reconciliation against enrollment and payroll deductions.
• Generalist coverage: onboard/offboard, answer employee questions, back up office operations.
• US payroll end-to-end: multi-state payroll in Rippling, including off-cycles and year-end (W-2s, reconciliations).
• Employer tax accounts: register and maintain state withholding and unemployment accounts as we grow into new states.
• International payroll support via our EOR partner in Rippling.
• Document, automate and improve payroll, benefits and tax playbook.
