Job summary

Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for an Embedded Software Engineer 2 – HIL Verification & Electrification in Mossville, Illinois. The role focuses on validating embedded controls and software for electrification systems using MATLAB/Simulink, OPAL-RT, and dSPACE to identify issues early in development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
• 2–4 years of relevant embedded software, controls engineering, software verification, simulation, or related activities.
• Working knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink for model-based development, simulation, or control system modeling.
• Experience with at least one programming or scripting language (C, C++, Python).
• Understanding of embedded software development, verification, validation, and testing methodologies.
• Ability to analyze requirements, develop test cases, execute testing, and document results.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with controls, software, systems, and test engineers.
• Willingness to learn new HIL hardware and test tools, and work onsite in Mossville, IL.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain real-time electrification plant models using MATLAB/Simulink for embedded controls verification and HIL.
• Configure, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain OPAL-RT and dSPACE HIL benches with hardware and software configurations.
• Develop requirements-based HIL test plans and automated regression tests using Python or similar languages; execute tests.
• Analyze test results, investigate failures, document defects, and reproduce issues with engineers to verify fixes.
• Support CAN/J1939 diagnostics, ECU integration testing, and HIL bench commissioning with traceability and QA practices.
