Diversified Services Network, Inc. is hiring a HIL Verification & Controls Engineer to join our Electrification Verification/HIL team in Mossville, IL. This onsite, full‑time role focuses on building and using HIL simulations to catch software and control issues early in development.

You will work with MATLAB/Simulink models, dSPACE/OPAL-RT benches, and CAN tools, developing automated tests and connecting hardware, software, and controls to support new program development and software releases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 2–4 years of relevant experience is required, or Master’s degree graduates considered.
• Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink.
• Experience with at least one programming language (C, Python, etc.).
• Willingness to learn new HIL hardware, software tools, systems, and control concepts.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain real-time electrification plant models for HIL simulation.
• Configure and maintain dSPACE and OPAL-RT HIL benches and related hardware.
• Support commissioning of HIL benches for new applications.
• Create HIL test plans and cases from software and system requirements.
• Build/maintain automated regression tests using Python or similar tools.
• Execute software releases and regression testing (auto and manual).
• Review results, investigate failures, and support root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with controls/software engineers to reproduce issues and verify fixes.
• Support CAN/J1939 communications, diagnostics, fault injection, and ECU integration testing.
• Maintain test traceability and test-result documentation.
• Improve verification efficiency via reusable test automation and standardized processes.

Position Overview

This onsite role supports the Electrification Verification/HIL team within the Advanced Power Technologies group, which verifies and validates embedded controls and software for electrification programs across a range of heavy machine and stationary power applications. The engineer will help build and use hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation capabilities that catch software and controls issues earlier in the development cycle and expand regression-test coverage. Beyond test execution, the role offers hands-on involvement in HIL design and build, plant modeling, and new feature development.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain real-time electrification plant models in MATLAB/Simulink for HIL simulation.
• Configure, operate, and maintain dSPACE and OPAL-RT HIL benches, including hardware, harnesses, models, and configurations.
• Support commissioning of HIL benches for new applications.
• Develop requirements-based HIL test plans and test cases from software and system requirements.
• Build and maintain automated regression tests using Python or similar scripting/programming tools.
• Execute software release and regression testing using both automated and manual methods.
• Review test results, investigate failures, document defects, and support root-cause analysis.
• Partner directly with controls and software engineers to reproduce issues, validate new features, and verify fixes in support of software releases and new program development.
• Support CAN/J1939 communications, diagnostics, fault injection, and ECU integration testing, using CAN tools and diagnostic data to troubleshoot embedded software and system behavior.
• Maintain test traceability and test-result documentation.
• Improve verification efficiency through reusable test automation and standardized HIL processes.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of relevant experience, required OR
• Master's degree graduates coming directly out of school will also be considered.
• Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink.
• Experience with at least one programming language (C, Python, etc.).
• Strong ability and willingness to learn new HIL hardware, software tools, machine applications, and control systems.
