Job summary

Duke University seeks a capable supervisor to lead complex healthcare construction projects from planning to completion, ensuring quality, safety, and operational excellence. You will coordinate with Architects, Engineers, and Duke Health teams while managing subcontractors and labor resources.

The role requires a strong background in construction and maintenance, with a minimum of five years of relevant experience and formal trade training.

Qualifications

• Education background equivalent to high school plus 2 years specialized training in a building trade (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or carpentry).
• Five years of maintenance/construction experience to learn construction techniques and equipment.
• Equivalency between education and experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate a variety of work activities involved in E&O construction projects for Duke Health.
• Serve as primary contact for installers and subcontractors, coordinating between Medical Center Engineering and the Operations Department.
• Obtain and communicate project status updates and oversee construction steps, including procuring subcontract labor and materials.
• Discuss project details with Architects, Engineers, Hospital Division supervisors, and FPDC.
• Apply ICRA guidelines, perform quality control audits, and update Life Safety drawings to ensure safe, efficient project completion.
