They work directly with the golf course superintendent to manage daily operations, supervise the grounds crew, and maintain optimal turf and playing conditions.**Responsibilities**---* **Daily Operations & Scheduling:** Helps develop daily and seasonal work schedules for mowing, course setup, and maintenance.* **Turf & Agronomic Management:** Assists in monitoring turf health, applying fertilizers and plant protectants, and executing cultural practices like aerification, vertical mowing, and topdressing.* **Irrigation & Water Management:** Oversees irrigation systems, monitors soil moisture, and performs or directs repairs on pumps, drainage, and lines.* **Staff Supervision & Training:** Assists with hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising groundskeepers, equipment operators, and crew foremen.* **Chemical & Regulatory Compliance:** Calibrates and supervises the application of pesticides and herbicides, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental laws.* **Leadership in Absence:** Assumes full operational and management responsibilities of the golf course in the absence of the superintendent* Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to communicate tournaments and events, course conditions and maintenance scheduling.* Plus, other work-related tasks as needed**Disclaimer**This description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of duties.
