Job summary

Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to inspect, monitor, and repair hospital machinery. The role involves preventive maintenance, cleaning, lubrication, and rapid repair of equipment across hospital facilities.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 1–2 years in healthcare facilities, and strong mechanical aptitude. Onsite work at our Boston campus with standard day shift and a 40-hour week.

Qualifications

• High school or vocational diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years in a similar healthcare facilities environment preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and basic knowledge of mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines.
• Cleans machines and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling as necessary.
• Oils and lubricates moving parts to ensure performance.
• Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts.
• Identifies causes of unexpected breakdowns and repairs quickly.
• Adheres to work orders and conducts building tours as directed.
• Monitors Building Automation System and responds to alarms.
• Troubleshoots problems with equipment across hospital buildings.
