Job summary

Northwest Fire Protection District seeks highly skilled Firefighter/Paramedics to provide advanced medical care and professional fire protection to our communities. The role combines licensed Illinois Paramedic duties with professional firefighting, demanding strong clinical judgment, proficiency with equipment, and a commitment to excellent patient care.

Expect to respond to medical emergencies, structure and vehicle fires, rescues, and hazardous material incidents while maintaining readiness,

Qualifications

• Must possess Illinois Paramedic license in good standing.
• Affiliation with Mercyhealth EMS within 1 month.
• Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal Basic Operations Firefighter certification.
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS/ITLS.

Responsibilities

• Provide Advanced Life Support care per IDPH and District protocols.
• Perform patient assessments and treatment plans.
• Establish IV/IO access and administer medications.
• Respond to fires, rescues, hazmat, and EMS calls.
• Inspect and maintain ambulances, fire apparatus, and equipment.
• Complete accurate ePCRs and EMS documentation.
• Comply with policies, OSHA, HIPAA, and laws.
• Participate in QA and training activities.
