Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Illinois Department of Public Health Licensed EMT (or ability to obtain prior to employment).
• National Registry EMT (preferred or required if applicable).
• Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal BOF certification.
• Valid Illinois Driver's License.
• Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS CPR certification.
• Ability to successfully complete department orientation and probationary requirements.

Responsibilities

• Respond to fires and other emergencies; perform fire attack and rescue tasks.
• Provide Basic Life Support (BLS) EMS care and assist paramedics.
• Participate in vehicle extrication and rescue operations within the department's capabilities.
• Inspect, maintain, and test apparatus and equipment; ensure readiness.
• Complete incident, EMS, and training documentation accurately and timely.
• Follow department policies, EMS system requirements, OSHA standards, and state regulations.
