Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a QC Manager for the Torrance Groundwater Desalter Expansion project in Southern California. Based on the project site in Torrance, you will lead quality control activities, ensure compliance with design documents, and coordinate inspections with subcontractors and the Client’s Construction Manager.

The role requires independent judgment, strong organizational and communication skills, and experience coordinating construction activities.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates strong independent judgement.
• Demonstrates strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks to ensure timely completion.
• Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders including the Owner, equipment/material suppliers, and inspection teams.
• Familiarity with inspection processes, submittals, and document tracking systems in the Construction Environment (e.g., Autodesk Construction Cloud, e2020, Smartsheets) is a plus.
• Experience in construction project coordination.
• Comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Be on the Site when construction is occurring with complete authority to take any action necessary to ensure conformance with the requirements of the approved Design Documents.
• Work with the subcontractors to identify each DFOW and facilitate Preparatory Meetings for each DFOW.
• Immediately stop any portion of the Design-Build Work that does not comply with requirements and direct removal or correction of defective work.
• Ensure subcontractors are informed of required inspections and tests.
• Supervise inspections and tests conducted by all trades.
• Obtain daily inspection requests from subcontractors and coordinate with WRD’s Construction Manager to schedule inspections.
• Provide notice to the Client’s Construction Manager of planned tests and inspections.
• Ensure all specified tests are performed and results reported.
• Verify completion of Design-Build Work prior to Substantial Completion and Final Completion.
• Maintain and update Non-Compliance Log, Construction Quality Issue Log, and Inspection Log at the project site.
• Attend all key Project meetings and work with the Project Manager to track quality.
• Confirm that quality activity results are documented.
