Job summary

CHAOS Industries is seeking a Facilities Technician to keep offices, labs, and manufacturing spaces running smoothly. You will handle moves, repairs, and setups, from hanging artwork to minor plumbing and electrical tasks, working with the site Facility Manager.

This hands-on role requires dependable service, strong communication, and the ability to decide when to escalate to a trade lead. Some moves may occur in evenings or on weekends.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in facilities, building maintenance, property management, or a similar general-maintenance role.
• Working knowledge of basic carpentry, drywall repair and painting, plumbing fixture replacement, furniture assembly, and general repair.
• Comfort using hand tools and power tools safely, and reading basic instructions, work orders, and drawings.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs, work on ladders and lifts, and stay on your feet for most of the day.
• Good judgment about when to repair something and when to escalate it.
• Strong communication and customer service skills, and the ability to work independently and manage your own task list.
• Reliable and punctual, with flexibility for occasional early, evening, or weekend work for moves and events.
• Valid driver's license and the ability to pass a background check.
• Preferred: experience in manufacturing, lab, or corporate office environments; CMMS/Jira familiarity; OSHA 10/30 or equivalent certifications; security-clearance eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Respond to facilities work orders and requests from the helpdesk, completing small repairs and setup tasks promptly and updating the work order system (CMMS) with notes, time, and materials used.
• Plan and carry out moves, adds, and changes: relocating desks, chairs, storage, lab and shop equipment, and boxes; assembling and disassembling furniture; and arranging spaces to the approved layout.
• Hang pictures, artwork, signage, whiteboards, TVs, shelves, and wall-mounted items, using anchors and mounting hardware for wall type and load.
• Set up and break down meeting rooms, training spaces, and events, including tables, chairs, staging, and equipment, and return spaces to standard afterward.
• Perform minor plumbing repairs and replacements, including toilets, flush valves, faucets, sinks, and fixtures, and clear simple clogs.
• Complete minor general maintenance, including patching and painting drywall, replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs and fixtures, door hardware, and basic carpentry.
• Support preventive maintenance rounds and building walk-throughs, noting issues and reporting promptly.
• Recognize when a job is beyond general maintenance and escalate to the right trade lead with clear information.
• Follow safety procedures, including lifting, ladder use, PPE, lockout/tagout, and site rules.
• Keep tools, supplies, and the shop area organized, and track inventory of parts and materials.
• Provide friendly, professional service to employees, visitors, and vendors, communicating clearly about timing and status.
