Job summary

University of Massachusetts Amherst seeks an Environmental Compliance Manager to lead and coordinate the University’s environmental programs. The role ensures adherence to federal, state, and local regulations across air emissions, stormwater, and wastewater operations, while guiding compliance reporting and audits.

Reporting to the Director of Environmental Programs, you will supervise environmental contractors, update SPCC plans, and serve as the technical liaison with MassDEP and EPA,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental field or related discipline.
• Minimum of six years of experience in environmental compliance, hazardous materials management, or related regulatory programs.
• Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations such as RCRA, Clean Air Act, and Clean Water Act.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental compliance programs in accordance with regulations and university standards.
• Develop and maintain procedures for permits and reporting across air, water, stormwater, and wastewater systems.
• Oversee regulatory reporting, inspections, and contractor oversight; manage SPCC planning and incident response.
• Coordinate audits, inspections, and corrective actions with campus stakeholders.
• Develop and deliver trainings on environmental compliance topics to university personnel.
