Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an Electronic Systems Verification and Validation Engineer in Mossville, IL to support lab-based testing of embedded software.

You will work with a skilled engineering team to verify and validate electrical systems powering Caterpillar’s machines, using SiL/HiL methods for high-quality software delivery to internal and external customers. The role requires collaboration with system engineers, test plans, and regression testing, ensuring compliance with functional

Qualifications

• Education: Engineering degree or higher in Electrical/Mechanical/Computer Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
• Knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing for machine level software integration.
• Experience with software regression, delta content testing and documenting test results to meet functional safety and ISO 9001 requirements.
• Strong data analysis to review test data, explain discrepancies, and identify causes of bench issues or software defects.

Responsibilities

• Define testing priorities with the testing team lead and engineers to determine test coverage.
• Develop test plans from system requirements and implement, run regression, and document results.
• Document test processes and results; prepare and analyze defect-tracking reports.
• Develop and implement product-testing procedures and evaluate next-gen test environments and tools.
• Create automated test scripts to improve efficiency in HiL and SiL environments.
• Collaborate across teams to ensure test results meet quality standards and regulatory compliance.
