Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions seeks a Database Administrator (Intermediate) to support DoD information systems in Suffolk, Virginia. You will manage SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments, ensure security, availability, and performance, and contribute to RMF compliance and disaster recovery planning.

The role requires active secret clearance, five years of enterprise DB experience, and certifications like Security+ or GSEC.

Qualifications

• Active Secret Clearance required.
• Minimum five years supporting enterprise database environments.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server production environments.
• Experience with PostgreSQL production environments.
• Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery operations.
• Experience with monitoring, performance optimization, and capacity planning.
• Experience implementing database security controls and access management.
• Experience supporting highly available and mission-critical systems.
• Demonstrated technical leadership including mentoring team members.

Responsibilities

• Administer and monitor enterprise Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments.
• Ensure database availability, integrity, confidentiality, and performance across production environments.
• Perform installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle management.
• Design and maintain backup, recovery solutions and disaster recovery capabilities.
• Monitor performance and implement tuning to maintain operational efficiency.
• Configure high availability technologies including Always On, clustering, failover, and replication.
• Maintain database security controls and auditing mechanisms.
• Support RMF compliance and cybersecurity initiatives.
• Develop maintenance plans, SOPs, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with system admins, cybersecurity, developers, and stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues and outages.
• Participate in change, configuration, and software release activities.
• Provide after-hours support during maintenance windows as required.
• Mentor team members and guide database architecture, security, and performance.
