Job summary

Google is seeking an Operations Technician to install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain hardware (servers and components) and server software in a data center environment. The role requires physical work, on-site presence, and collaboration with teams across infrastructure projects.

Ideal candidates have a background in hardware troubleshooting, data center operations, and the ability to work non-standard hours, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Experience with component-level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment.
• Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting OS, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols.
• Ability to lift/move 50lb (23kg) of equipment and perform physical work over extended periods.
• Ability to work non-standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, holidays and on shift-based schedules.
• Willingness to travel to support business priorities as required.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Completion of the Google IT Support Professional Certificate.
• 2 years of experience diagnosing/troubleshooting OS or hardware or networking protocols.
• Experience repairing IT equipment or in similar roles (e.g., Systems Administration, Network Deployment Engineer, Help Desk).
• Experience in data center or network operations center environments.
• Ability to collaborate and adapt in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and operate new data center infrastructure across projects or functions.
• Report issues and follow procedures to troubleshoot and diagnose issues with equipment or infrastructure.
• Maintain data security and integrity, tracking media for proper erasure per Google standards.
• Disassemble equipment at end-of-life via part replacement in a team setting.
• Repair and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, or infrastructure with defined solutions and limited guidance.
