Job summary

TEKsystems is hiring a Communications Technician II for an onsite role in Rayville, LA. The position focuses on wiring work areas, mounting and terminating CAT 3/5 jacks, and assembling closets with patch panels and racks.

You will also perform testing, identify circuits and supervise crew progress, ensuring timely completion of tasks and accurate paperwork. Ideal candidates are entry-level, detail-oriented and capable of traveling within the branch or regional territory as needed.

Qualifications

• Entry level position based in Rayville, LA.

Responsibilities

• Install a work area outlet for floor, modular furniture and wall surfaces; terminate CAT3 & CAT5 jacks and mount face plates.
• Build closets: mount backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic hardware; install grounding for racks and cables.
• Complete all IDC connections (110/66 blocks, patch panels).
• Perform testing: continuity tests on horizontal and riser cables; use volt-ohm-meters; troubleshoot opens, shorts and transpose pairs.
• Identify active voice or data circuits and supervise crew performance; coordinate personnel and timeline.
• Complete paperwork on time (timesheets, transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers).
• Adhere to company, customer and industry quality and safety standards and regulations.
