Job summary

STR is hiring a Software Reverse Engineer to research and analyze vulnerabilities in cyber-physical systems. Work will be onsite in Arlington, VA.

Roles include reverse engineering of Windows/Linux binaries and embedded firmware, building automated tools, and developing cybersecurity solutions. Qualified candidates have TS clearance, degrees in CS/CE/Cybersecurity or related fields, and strong skills in C/C++, Python, and assembly languages.

Qualifications

• BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Experience with binary analysis of software/firmware.
• Experience with disassembly tools, such as IDA Pro, Binary Ninja, or Ghidra.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages: C/C++, Python, etc.
• Proficiency in one or more Assembly Languages: x86, ARM, etc.
• General understanding of reverse engineering fundamentals: memory layout, calling conventions, etc.

Responsibilities

• Reverse engineering complex software or firmware targets, incl. Windows/Linux binaries and embedded firmware.
• Develop automated reverse engineering and binary analysis tools.
• Develop innovative cybersecurity solutions.
• Collaborate in multi-disciplinary teams to tackle diverse tech challenges.
• Perform vulnerability weaponization, exploit and payload development, and mitigation.
• Document and present research findings to stakehold ers.
