Job summary
General Motors in Saginaw, MI is seeking a Controls Systems Engineer to design, program, and optimize electrical and control systems on the production floor. You will collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and maintenance to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement in high‑volume automotive operations.
The role requires hands‑on problem solving, PLC and HMI programming, servo motion, and experience with Fanuc robotics.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in electrical or computer engineering or related field.
- Experience in manufacturing environments with electrical/control systems.
- Ability to work multiple shifts and weekends as needed.
- Experience with PLC/HMI programming and industrial networks.
Responsibilities
- Configure, program, test and troubleshoot PLC systems.
- Electrical troubleshooting of controls panels and equipment.
- Diagnose and correct deficiencies in manufacturing processes.
- Develop innovative solutions and UI displays.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality and maintenance teams.
- Support continuous improvement and safety initiatives.
