Job summary

General Motors' CCA Maintenance Team in Michigan seeks a Controls Engineer to lead controls projects, troubleshoot PLCs, and drive plant-wide improvements for conveyors, storage systems, and legacy equipment.

You will collaborate with skilled trades and cross-functional teams, develop project plans and timelines, report results, and train team members while maintaining documentation and upholding safe work practices onsite.

Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or 4+ years of equivalent experience.
2+ years of experience in controls, automation, or manufacturing.
On-site availability five days per week, with weekend work as required.
Experience programming and troubleshooting Allen-Bradley PLCs.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and written/verbal communication skills.
Ability to work with cross-functional teams and document changes clearly.

Responsibilities

Lead controls-related projects including equipment installation, upgrades, and improvements.
Troubleshoot and program PLCs to support plant operations.
Support downtime events by identifying root causes and restoring systems quickly.
Collaborate with skilled trades to resolve equipment and automation issues.
Improve performance of conveyors, automated storage systems, and legacy equipment.
Develop project plans, cost estimates, and timelines.
Track and report project progress and results.
Promote safe work practices and maintain system documentation.
