Job summary

D.R. Horton, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to support the construction of community homes. You will assist the Superintendent with scheduling and supervising subcontractors, maintaining quality, cost control, homeowner satisfaction, and safety on site.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, 6 months to 2 years of related experience, a valid driver’s license, and strong communication skills. Proficiency in MS Office and plan reading is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Six months to 2 years of related experience.
• Must have valid driver’s license and be willing to drive among construction sites.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Commitment to customer satisfaction.
• Ability to read plans and other construction documents.
• Require minimum supervision and ability to create a systematic approach.
• Ability to converse with customers, all levels of management and personnel.
• Ability to utilize DR Horton construction applications on a smartphone, tablet, or laptop.
• Proficiency with MS Office and email.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Inspect each home daily to assure quality and adherence to plans and schedule.
• Schedule and walk all inspections with inspectors.
• Walk completed homes before homeowner walk-through and closing to ensure quality and readiness.
• Conduct homeowner orientation and additional walks for satisfaction.
• Assist Superintendent in managing subcontractors and monitoring quality, safety, scheduling and costs.
• Enforce site safety program and subcontractor compliance with standards.
• Maintain cleanliness standards at communities and jobsites.
• Support construction materials handling to prevent damage, waste and theft.
• Support the construction schedule and deliver high-quality product on time and within budget.
• Provide superior customer service during all phases of construction.
• Develop positive relations with subcontractors and homeowners.
• Develop knowledge in building codes, materials, methodologies and scheduling.
• In absence of Superintendent, ensure schedules, policies and guidelines are followed.
