Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking a Site Safety Coordinator to be assigned to a specific construction project alongside the Project Safety Manager. This full-time safety representative will ensure compliance with site-specific safety plans and support all safety activities from start to finish of the project.

The candidate will perform daily field observations, conduct site orientations, track PPE and training, assist with incident investigations, and serve as a liaison with GC safety teams, Cal OSHA,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of safety experience.
• Confined space experience required.
• OSHA knowledge and standards.
• Ability to travel and stay overnight.
• Strong communication with customers/GCs.

Responsibilities

• Support safety efforts on this specific project and monitor field activities to verify the work being performed is compliant with site safety expectations.
• Perform daily site safety observations in the field 80%–90% of the time.
• Conduct site orientation for new personnel on the project.
• Ensure implementation of the safety plan on the project.
• Track inventory of safety supplies (PPE, water, first-aid) and communicate needs to the Project Safety Manager.
• Assist field supervision with equipment inspections.
• Make recommendations to modify/remove hazardous equipment or facilities.
• Assess safety training needs and coordinate/site training.
• Create and maintain a training matrix with site requirements, workers' names, and completion dates.
• Assist site management with incident investigations.
• Serve as a safety paperwork resource with the Senior Site Manager.
• Maintain safety documentation in centralized binders.
• Coach project teams in hazard identification and correction per site safety plan and Baker Corporate Safety Process.
• Serve as liaison with GC safety teams, Cal OSHA, insurance carriers, and other regulatory agencies.
• Attend site safety meetings and daily huddles.
• Verify initial confined space readings when samples are taken.
• Ensure proper procedures for initial confined space entry and act as entry supervisor.
• Overtime and off shifts may be required as requested by management.
