Job summary

System One, Inc. is seeking a Construction Estimator in Stoystown, PA to review drawings, develop material takeoffs, and prepare cost estimates for structural steel and miscellaneous metal fabrication projects.

This onsite, direct-hire role involves coordinating with engineering, fabrication, and purchasing teams to ensure accurate estimates. The ideal candidate has an associate degree or equivalent estimating experience, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with Excel, estimating software,

Qualifications

Associate's degree in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or related field or equivalent estimating experience.
Ability to read construction drawings.
Strong analytical and math skills.
Proficiency in Excel and estimating software.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and ERP software.
Ability to walk, stand, and lift up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to establish project requirements.
Perform material quantity takeoffs and labor estimates for structural steel and miscellaneous metal fabrication projects.
Request and evaluate quotations from vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Prepare detailed cost estimates, bid summaries, and proposal documents.
Build and maintain estimating spreadsheets, databases, and historical cost records.
Work with engineering, fabrication, and purchasing teams to confirm estimate accuracy.
Identify project risks, clarifications, exclusions, and value engineering opportunities.
Support customer, vendor, and subcontractor relationships throughout the bidding process.
Make occasional visits to the fabrication shop or project sites.
