Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Cloud Engineer to support NGA's Verification and Validation Division in Springfield, VA. The role focuses on cloud-based hosting, IaC deployment, and secure test environments for the Acadia program.

The candidate will design cloud solutions, automate deployments, and collaborate with testers and senior leadership. TS/SCI with polygraph is required or will be pursued after hire.

Qualifications

• Clearance: Top Secret with willingness to upgrade to TS/SCI and polygraph.
• BS degree in Software Engineering, Math, or related field.
• 5–10 years cloud engineering or related experience.
• Knowledge of AWS, Well-Architected best practices.
• Experience with AWS services: CloudFormation, S3, IAM/NACL/ACL, RDS, DynamoDB, MongoDB, EC2.
• Experience administering enterprise IT infrastructure, OS, networks, security, backups.
• Strong communication for briefings and documentation.
• Experience in DoD/IC environments and Agile practices.
• Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow familiarity.
• Programming: Python, Java, JavaScript, or Go.
• Windows and Linux administration.

Responsibilities

• Provide SME cloud design and architecture expertise.
• Research, evaluate, and deploy advanced cloud systems for test and production.
• Maintain patches, updates, and new features for cloud assets.
• Support enterprise users, testers, stakeholders, and leadership.
• Manage deployment strategies for IaaS/PaaS/containers (Blue/Green, Canary, zero-downtime).
• Implement Infrastructure as Code for repeatable deployments.
• Automate deployment and promotion cycles from development to production.
• Contribute as a key member of a collaborative software team.
• Review security findings and provide remediation.
