Job summary

Duke Health seeks an experienced Emergency Management professional to lead campus-wide preparedness, drills, and incident response planning. You will manage the Duke Emergency Management Plan, coordinate internal and external task forces, and ensure readiness of call systems, venues, and communications during emergencies.

Requires a Bachelor's degree, 4+ years in healthcare or disaster management, and experience with mass notification platforms and EOC tools.

Qualifications

• Work requires a Bachelor's Degree; a Master's Degree is preferred.
• Four years of experience in healthcare management, disaster management, or project administration; experience leading teams is required.
• Experience with mass notification platforms such as Rave, Everbridge or Alertus.
• Experience with crisis communications and virtual EOC platforms such as WebEOC or Veoci; training or project management experience is required.
• Certifications in emergency management from FEMA or NEMA within 6 months of hire are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the Duke Emergency Management Plan; ensure it is up-to-date.
• Orchestrate campus-wide Emergency Preparedness Drills and document lessons learned.
• Participate with internal/external task forces and agencies on emergency preparedness.
• Investigate and recommend best practices for emergency preparedness.
• Support daily emergency management functions and on-call rotation.
• Activation of alert/notification systems in leadership roles during emergencies.
• Develop plans for emergencies (trauma, bio-terrorism, chemical, etc.) and external events.
• Coordinate and summarize capital and operational requests for preparedness.
• Work with local experts to ensure equipment and supplies are ready.
