Job summary

The Scruggs Company in Valdosta, GA is seeking an Accounting Intern to support the CFO with accounts payable/receivable and payroll tasks. The role is fully onsite, 40 hours per week, with potential future locations across Georgia.

This paid internship includes opportunities for career growth, training, and housing assistance if needed. Ideal candidates are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or management, with proficiency in Excel and a strong understanding of accounting

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance and/or management.
• Prior work experience preferred but not required.
• Proficient with Excel.
• Understanding of accounting theory.
• Detail oriented and organized with ability to meet deadlines.
• Coachable, eager to learn, and a team player.

Responsibilities

• Report on project profitability to management using percent complete method
• Inform management of opportunities for additional project billings
• Prepare and enter journal entries with reclassifications and allocations
• Routinely analyze revenues and expenses for accurate recording
• Assist with preparation/review of financial statements and schedules per monthly close
• Ensure company policies and procedures are followed
• Perform audits to verify transactions
• Assist in compiling information for external auditors
