Job summary

Colonna's Shipyard is seeking a 2nd Class Inside Machinist to perform precision machining tasks in a shipyard setting, repairing, modifying, and fabricating components using manually operated lathes, mills, and grinders. The role is onsite in Norfolk, VA, on the 2nd shift, under supervision of senior machinists and supervisors.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of inside machinist experience, knowledge of precision machining and blueprint reading, and proficiency with manual machine tools.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience as an inside machinist.
• Knowledge of precision machining, blueprint reading, and quality control.
• Proficiency operating manual machine tools such as lathes, mills, and grinders.

Responsibilities

• Operate lathes, milling machines, grinders, and other machine tools to produce or repair metal components.
• Assist in performing precision machining tasks using manually operated equipment to fabricate, modify, and repair metal components to exact specifications.
• Repair and modify shipboard components such as shafts, bearings, valves, and other mechanical parts.
• Fabricate custom parts as required, ensuring adherence to design specifications.
• Interpret technical drawings and measure parts to precise tolerances.
