Job summary

DeVry University seeks an Online Visiting Professor of Cancer Registry Management to teach undergraduate and graduate students in cancer registry topics. The role blends face-to-face and online elements, with eight-week sessions and ongoing faculty development.

Qualified candidates hold a Master's in health information management or related field, CTR/ODS, and 5+ years in cancer registry operations, with expertise in AJCC staging and NAACCR standards.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in health information management, public health, or healthcare-related field from regionally accredited institution.
• Current Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) or Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) certification required.
• Minimum 5 years managing cancer registry operations including case finding, abstracting, and follow-up.
• Expertise in AJCC/TNM staging, SEER Summary Staging, and collaborative staging systems.
• Experience with cancer registry software platforms and NAACCR data standards.
• Working knowledge of NCRA or CAHIIM accreditation standards and quality control procedures.
• Understanding of cancer surveillance reporting to state and national databases.
• This role requires the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings.
• Faculty must have a commitment to ongoing professional development in instructional technology, digital literacy, and responsible AI practices.

Responsibilities

• Develops and provides students with an approved DeVry University syllabus that follows campus templates, including terminal course objectives.
• Organizes, prepares, and regularly revises course materials.
• Uses online technologies and course-related software to prepare and deliver content.
• Models effective oral and written communications that engage students and improve learning.
• Sets clear course expectations by publishing terminal objectives and grading schemes.
• Ensures exams align with objectives and provides timely feedback.
• Embraces responsible use of AI technologies to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
• Demonstrates ability to address appropriate and inappropriate AI usage in academic work.
• Completes other duties as assigned.
