Job summary

Florida Virtual School is seeking a Reading Intervention Instructor for the Florida Scholars Academy (FSA) in Florida. The role focuses on implementing targeted intervention strategies, analyzing student data, and coordinating instructional resources to accelerate student learning within an online education framework.

The position requires a Florida teaching certificate, 3 years of teaching experience, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality educational outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree is required.
• Master’s Degree preferred.
• Valid Florida Professional Teaching Certificate in content area.
• Endorsements as required by Florida Department of Education.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and implement instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences
• Supervise student participation in intervention tools for courses where performance is lacking
• Analyze student performance data to determine which students need additional one-on-one support
• Identify, select, create, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs
• Assist with the assessment of changing curricular needs
• Maintain effective and efficient record keeping procedures
• Provide a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process
• Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment for students by participating in activities such as team teaching, meetings, staff development, communities of practice, and committees
• Model professional and ethical standards
• Ensure student growth and achievement are continuous and appropriate
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, schools, and colleagues
• Meet specific course and school-wide student performance goals
• Demonstrate gains in student performance
• Participate in research and presentations about online teaching; may include authoring articles, hosting workshops
• May be responsible for instructional tutoring
• Support other academic topics at discretion of leadership
• Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits
• All work responsibilities may include other duties as required
