Job summary

The University of Minnesota is seeking a Noncredit Instructor for the Professional Development and Lifelong Learning Programs to develop and teach a 6-week online course in program management topics.

The role involves collaboration with an instructional designer and program manager, delivering both synchronous and asynchronous content via Zoom and Canvas, with a schedule including 10 weeks of engagement around the course window. Pay is per course.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Four years of work experience related to the subject matter.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Deep knowledge of the course subject matter.
  • Ability to explain concepts to help others learn.
  • Ability to provide feedback to help learners develop knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree and at least six years of related work experience.
  • Experience teaching adult learners in live and asynchronous contexts.
  • Experience developing or teaching topics related to data analysis.
  • Ability to evaluate assessments to determine if learning outcomes were achieved.

Responsibilities

  • Create clear, measurable outcomes for the course.
  • Identify, sequence, and structure topics for each module.
  • Develop learning activities and media supporting course outcomes.
  • Develop learning assessments to demonstrate learner achievement.
  • Collaborate with instructional designer, program manager and university staff.
  • Follow the course development handbook requirements.
  • Record and post introduction video and send course introduction email.
  • Verify dates and contents of the course site and update as needed.
  • Open the course and modules.
  • Prepare for weekly Zoom sessions and follow the pre-designed curriculum.
  • Facilitate weekly Zoom sessions as scheduled.
  • Evaluate submitted work and provide learner feedback.
  • Submit final grades.
  • Respond to learner questions by email or LMS.
  • Meet with learners via Zoom as needed.
