Job summary

Viterbo University invites applicants for an Instructional Designer to advance online course design, templates, and learner-centered programs across education, nursing, and pre-health.

In this 12-month, exempt role, you will collaborate with faculty and IT to integrate work-based learning and ethical AI, while ensuring accessibility and effective assessment practices across online bachelor completion courses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in instructional design, education, educational technology, or related field.
• At least three years of instructional design and online course development experience.
• Knowledge of learner-centered course design and online/hybrid pedagogy.
• Experience collaborating with faculty or subject-matter experts to improve courses.
• Equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, redesign, and enhancement of online bachelor completion courses and workforce-aligned programs.
• Develop and maintain accessible, learner-centered course templates and resources for online/hybrid instruction.
• Align objectives, activities, assessments, and technologies with program outcomes and workforce needs.
• Integrate work-based learning experiences and ethical uses of artificial intelligence into course design.
• Apply evidence-based instructional design, accessibility, and quality-assurance practices to improve teaching and learning.
• Consult with faculty to identify instructional needs and support continuous course improvement.
• Collaborate with CTL and IIT to plan faculty development and training in teaching practices.
• Evaluate effectiveness of instructional design initiatives and recommend improvements.
• Coordinate with campus partners to align services and address cross-functional needs.
• Create and update faculty-facing documentation for supported technologies.
• Participate in committees, grant activities, and institutional planning.
• Maintain knowledge through ongoing professional development.
• Perform other duties in support of grant and University priorities.
