Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking qualified adjunct faculty to teach graduate-level courses in the MSHQS program (online). Instructors will deliver asynchronous online instruction, assess and provide feedback, and ensure alignment with student learning outcomes and program mission.

Advising, mentorship, and collaboration with program leadership are expected to maintain quality and relevance of curriculum.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in Healthcare Administration/Management or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution.
• Evidence of successful teaching experience in Healthcare Administration, Healthcare Quality and Safety, or related program in higher education.
• At least 18 graduate semester hours in healthcare administration, healthcare quality, or related discipline; and
• Professional experience in healthcare quality improvement, patient safety, risk management, regulatory compliance, performance improvement, or related roles.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an instructor for one or more MSHQS courses per academic year (2–3 courses per year for adjunct status).
• Deliver high-quality online instruction, including asynchronous lectures, discussion facilitation, assignment design, assessment, and feedback.
• Maintain virtual office hours and respond to student inquiries promptly.
• Monitor student engagement and performance; intervene or refer to program support as needed.
• Collaborate with the division director and other faculty to ensure content is current, evidence-based, and aligned with outcomes and competency-based education.
• Participate in faculty orientation/training for online pedagogy and virtual instruction; adhere to university policies on integrity, accessibility, and best practices.
• Engage in periodic program reviews and mentor students in assigned courses.
• Adjunct faculty may mentor or advise for applied projects in healthcare quality improvement and patient safety.
