Job summary

Abilene Christian University is seeking an online instructor to provide high-quality instruction and support for students in virtual classrooms. The role includes timely feedback, group facilitation on Canvas, and availability for virtual meetings.

The candidate should hold a master’s degree or higher in a related field and have strong communication skills. Prior online teaching in higher education is preferred, with proficiency in common software tools and platforms.

Qualifications

• Majors in Communication Sciences & Disorders or related field with accredited degree.
• Previous online teaching experience in higher education is strongly preferred.
• Computer literacy in software and internet-based applications.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality instruction, direction and support for students in the online classroom environment.
• Provide rich and timely feedback on student work, being encouraging and constructively critical.
• Facilitate class sizes up to 29 students.
• Place students in groups on Canvas for assignments/discussions.
• Provide timely and helpful answers to students’ inquiries.
• Be available for virtual meetings with students and hold a minimum of two office hours per week.
• Facilitate and grade all assignments in a timely manner (within 24-72 hours).
• Enter final course grades after consultation with lead faculty.
• Alert lead faculty to student issues and policy violations.
• Comply with policies and provide feedback for program/course improvement.
• Participate in faculty meetings and training.
• Other duties as assigned.
