The Department of Art at Colby College invites applications for a one-year sabbatical replacement in Digital Media at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2025. A completed M.F.A., at least two years teaching experience at the college level, and an active record of creative scholarship are required. The teaching load consists of 4 courses/year, covering courses in 2D digital processes and time-based arts practices. Our preference will be toward candidates who have working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite including After Effects, Audition, and Premiere Pro, and those whose practice incorporates time-based processes such as sound recording, animation, and experimental film/video art.
The successful candidate will become part of our dynamic department of art history and studio art. In addition to an extraordinary museum of art, the Lunder Institute for American Art, and a dedicated library of art and music, Colby College is currently engaged in ambitious investments in the arts with new buildings both on campus and downtown (such as the Greene Block + Studios, the Gordon Center for Creative and Performing Arts, the Paul J. Schupf Art Center on Main Street, and the Lyons Arts Lab).
