Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of Spanish & Portuguese Studies at Dickinson College invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Spanish position, with the possibility of renewal. The area of specialization is open. The successful candidate will teach five courses per academic year, which may include Spanish language, composition, and literature survey courses. The ability to create inclusive learning environments for an increasingly diverse student body will be an important characteristic of the successful candidate.

A Ph.D. in Spanish or a closely related field by the time of appointment is preferred ( ABD considered). The department seeks candidates who are committed to undergraduate teaching in the context of a liberal arts education, who maintain an active research agenda, and who are eager to contribute to the intellectual and cultural life of the department and college community.

Dickinson College is a highly selective four-year, independent liberal arts college with 2300 students. It is located 20 minutes west of Harrisburg and is a two-hour drive from Baltimore, Washington DC and Philadelphia.
