The role involves facilitating social-emotional and academic learning for individual students under the Classroom Teacher's direction. Successful candidates will work closely with classroom staff to ensure a supportive environment and apply individualized behavior plans.

This part-time position offers competitive hourly pay with a work schedule of 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm. Valley Day School is committed to promoting student success through innovative teaching practices.

Job Summary

Support an assigned individual student under the direction of the Classroom Teacher to facilitate student social-emotional and academic learning.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Classroom Teacher to provide behavioral structure and instructional support during lessons
• Responsible for collecting and submitting behavioral point sheets, individual behavior plans, lunch selections, and other classroom data collection as needed
• Help maintain a safe and supportive learning environment
• Provide opportunities to students to learn and strengthen social skills through the school-wide Positive Behavior Intervention System
• Help students to develop social-emotional and verbal skills while helping reduce socially significant actions
• Follow behavior plans and other protocols developed for students, and assist with behaviors under the direction of the Classroom Teacher and Behavioral Support Team

Training and Development

• Complete training in Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and apply skills to respond to urgent student situations to deescalate behavioral problems
• Collaborate with the Clinical Team to create and then implement individualized behavior plans for students; serve as a mandated reporter of child abuse/neglect under PA state law
• Perform other duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the building and teaching team
