Saint Joseph Central Elementary School in Fort Wayne, Indiana, is hiring a 5.75-hour Emotional Disability Special Education Assistant to support students within the classroom and during school activities.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, experience with students with special needs preferred, and the ability to work with teachers, staff and families. Duties include one-to-one support, adapting materials, and assisting with communication supports.

Formación

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Experience working with students with special needs preferred.
• Must be flexible and relate well with students, staff and parents.
• Ability to complete tasks independently with a positive attitude.
• Strong office, computer, and communication skills (oral and written).
• Knowledge of child guidance principles and practices.

Responsabilidades

• Provide one-to-one support to the assigned student during the school day.
• Assist the student in accessing instruction and school routines.
• Modify or adapt materials as directed by licensed staff.
• Reinforce academic concepts and skills previously taught.
• Support the student’s functional communication across settings.
• Help with augmentative communication systems when applicable.
• Encourage social interaction and appropriate behavior as per IEP/BIP.
