Job summary

VCA Aurora Animal Hospital in Aurora, IL is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician to join our Medical Oncology Service. This full‑time position offers 4 × 10‑hour weekday shifts with no weekend requirements, and opportunities to work with board‑certified oncologists on advanced cancer care.

You will assist with oncology appointments, diagnostics, chemotherapy, anesthesia, and patient recovery, while educating clients and collaborating with specialists across departments.

Qualifications

• Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) required.
• Experience with oncology, chemotherapy, and anesthesia preferred.
• Proficient in monitoring and patient care in a veterinary setting.
• Strong communication and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with oncology appointments, diagnostics, chemotherapy, and advanced treatments.
• Safely administer and monitor chemotherapy while following safety protocols.
• Provide anesthesia, sedation, monitoring, and recovery for advanced procedures.
• Place IV catheters, collect samples, administer medications, and care for patients.
• Monitor hospitalized patients and communicate changes to the medical team.
• Educate and support clients throughout their pet's treatment journey.
• Collaborate with specialists across departments to ensure outstanding care.
