Job description

This established healthcare system in Southern Arizona is seeking an Oncology Unit RN Manager for an exciting opportunity to lead a specialized inpatient oncology and hematology team. This role is ideal for an experienced nurse leader who is passionate about developing clinical teams, advancing oncology nursing practice, and making a meaningful difference for patients and families navigating complex diagnoses.

The Oncology Unit RN Manager will join a respected healthcare organization with a strong commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care and community health. The organization supports a collaborative multidisciplinary environment where nursing leaders have the opportunity to influence quality, staff development, patient experience, and clinical outcomes. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing oncology program and help shape the future of specialized cancer care.

The Oncology Unit RN Manager reports directly to the Director of Nursing, providing a strong leadership partnership and support structure. This position will oversee the day-to-day operations of the oncology and hematology nursing team, including staffing, performance management, education, and professional development. The Oncology Unit RN Manager will also work closely with physicians, case management, support services, referral hospitals, and other internal departments to promote continuity of care.

The Oncology Unit RN Manager will oversee a 30-bed inpatient Oncology and Hematology unit caring for a diverse patient population throughout their cancer journey. The unit provides care for patients with oncology and hematology diagnoses, chemotherapy needs, and complex medical conditions, supported by a highly collaborative multidisciplinary team. This is a growing program with opportunities to develop advanced clinical expertise, support specialty certification, and strengthen oncology nursing practice.

The Oncology Unit RN Manager will provide clinical and operational leadership for the unit, supporting staff education, competency development, preceptor programs, quality improvement, and standards of care while maintaining clinical expertise and providing direct patient care when needed. This leader will oversee staffing and productivity, employee performance, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and the day-to-day delivery of safe, high-quality 24/7 patient care. The Oncology Unit RN Manager will also participate in budgeting, staffing plans, strategic planning, physician collaboration, patient concerns, and multidisciplinary initiatives that support excellent outcomes and patient experience.

The Oncology Unit RN Manager will enjoy living in Southern Arizona, a region offering a growing economy, expanding healthcare needs, established educational institutions, and convenient transportation connections. Regional airports provide access to major destinations, while larger international air travel hubs are within reasonable driving distance for business or personal travel. For those considering relocation, Southern Arizona offers established neighborhoods, suburban communities, and more spacious residential options, along with major retailers, restaurants, grocery stores, fitness centers, schools, parks, and healthcare services.

The Oncology Unit RN Manager will be offered Competitive Compensation and Generous Benefits along with the opportunity to play a meaningful leadership role in a growing oncology program serving patients and families during some of their most challenging moments. This is a chance to build a strong nursing team, advance specialized cancer care, and make a lasting impact within the community.
