Job summary

Amgen is seeking an Oncology Strategy Director to lead strategic initiatives shaping the Oncology Therapeutic Area, with flexibility for remote work and occasional Pacific Time overlap. You will drive cross-functional projects, portfolio planning, and landscape assessments while partnering with Development leadership and external collaborators.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of strategy experience within management consulting, finance, or corporate strategy functions.
• Robust knowledge of biopharma industry (pharma development, translational sciences, R&D processes).
• Oncology R&D experience in the biopharmaceutical industry (biotech, pharmaceutical company).
• Excellent cross-functional communication skills and a decisive yet affiliative leadership style to drive results while maintaining relationships.
• Strong presence with Senior Executives including ability to communicate effectively on a prepared and ad-hoc basis.
• Proven experience as a member and leader of a high performing team.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic initiatives shaping Amgen’s Oncology Therapeutic Area future with cross-functional collaboration.
• Independently drive project execution and influence stakeholders across multiple functions and levels.
• Develop and support annual therapeutic area strategies, including oncology portfolio planning.
• Conduct technology assessments, deep-dive analyses and landscape evaluations.
• Perform cross-portfolio analytics, risk assessments, and strategic decision-support activities.
• Support scientific collaborations with external academic partners through the Amgen Partners of Choice program.
• Facilitate scientific exchange and coordinate partnership-related projects.
• Manage global external communications and represent the organization with key external stakeholders.
• Serve as a trusted advisor and representative for Development leadership.
• Navigate ambiguity and lead ad hoc strategic initiatives and special projects.
