Amgen is seeking an Executive Director of Oncology Research in the U.S. to drive discovery and development of novel therapeutics for solid tumors and hematologic malignancies.

You will lead a portfolio, shape strategy, and guide a cross-disciplinary team in a fast-paced, matrixed environment. The role requires deep oncology biology expertise, experience leading large molecule and small molecule programs, and the ability to integrate AI/ML insights into the research portfolio.

Qualifications

• Doctorate with 6+ years of oncology research experience (or Masters 10y, or Bachelors 12y with 6y leadership).
• 6+ years of managerial experience directing teams, programs or resources.
• Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Drive research strategy and execution for a differentiated oncology portfolio, focusing on ADCs.
• Lead and develop high‑performing teams of project leaders and scientists.
• Advance preclinical programs and partner cross-functionally with clinical development.
• Leverage data and AI/ML insights to accelerate discovery and decision-making.
• Shape external collaborations including academic partnerships and business development.
