Job summary

Penn Medicine's Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, PA, seeks a Clinical Nurse 1 New to Practice Apprentice for a 36-hour weekly night shift on our oncology unit. This role supports adult patients requiring surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation, and works with the ABBCI team to provide comprehensive care.

The apprentice will begin as a newly licensed RN, complete Nurse Residency, and progress to Clinical Nurse 2 within 18 months, with supervision and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• RN licensure required by the PA Board of Nursing or a Temporary Practice Permit until RN license is obtained.
• Individuals with Temporary Practice Permits must sit for NCLEX within 60 days of starting in RN role.
• BSN or higher degree preferred for Magnet designated RN positions; or within three years of placement for incumbents who started after 07/01/2020.
• Graduate RNs may practice under supervision with a temporary practice permit.
• CPR certification (AHA BLS) required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to patients on a 26-bed oncology unit.
• Collaborate with interprofessional health care team to coordinate care across the continuum.
• Educate patients about healthy practices and treatment modalities.
• Demonstrate safety, quality, and teamwork in nursing practice.
