Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Medical Oncology unit in a part-time night shift (7pm–7:30am) with rotating weekends. The role supports inpatient care for adults with cancer, providing chemotherapy administration, symptom management, and end-of-life care in a collaborative team.

The nurse will adhere to ANA standards, coordinate with physicians and staff, and participate in governance and quality initiatives within the NM system.

Qualifications

• Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
• ADN acceptable with commitment to obtain a BSN within three years

Responsibilities

• Collects and analyzes data, identifies expected outcomes, develops and implements an individualized plan, coordinates care delivery and evaluates progress toward outcomes.
• Directs care and determines the appropriate utilization of any assistant.
• Collaborates with patient, family, physicians and ancillary staff. Creates a documented plan focused on outcomes and decisions.
• Participates in shared governance, committee work, and unit projects.
• Evaluates and documents the patient’s responses to nursing interventions in the health record and personalizes the plan of care.
• Utilizes the best available evidence to guide practice decisions.
