Job summary

Lowell General Hospital is seeking a registered nurse for their Oncology – Main Campus unit. The RN will provide direct nursing care per physician orders, assess and plan for a designated patient group, and support clinical processes within the unit.

A valid nursing license and BLS are required, with experience depending on level I–IV. The role emphasizes evidence-based practice, patient education, discharge planning, and collaboration with the healthcare team.

Qualifications

• Massachusetts RN Licensure.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
• Department Specific: Certification(s) relevant to the department and the type of patient care being provided may be required.
• Experience based on level (I, II, III, or IV).

Responsibilities

• Participates in and sustains performance improvement initiatives.
• Evaluates and integrates evidence-based practice into clinical care.
• Conducts and documents accurate clinical assessments.
• Develops and evaluates the patient’s individualized plan of care.
• Uses professional nursing judgment to tailor the plan of care to patient needs.
• Manages own patient assignment and delegates tasks based on team capabilities.
• Educates patient and family using appropriate resources and documents accordingly.
• Supports patient/family rights and informed choices including advance directives.
• Evaluates and revises the care plan as patient health status changes.
• Develops a comprehensive discharge plan with referrals to community resources.
• Supports staff development and precepts new team members.
• Encourages professional growth through ongoing education and committee participation.
